Psy’s Gangnam Style Breaks YouTube, Again…

YouTube has had its own Bill Gates moment this week when it underestimated the number of times any one video would be watched. Just as Bill Gates believed we would never use more than 640k or RAM in a PC YouTube didn’t think a video would ever be watched more than 2.15 billion times.

Then Gangnum style happened to an unsuspecting world in July 2012 and 2 years later what seemed like plenty of space has turned out to be woefully inadequate, hell the first billion views happened in less than 6 months.

Action Movie Kid, Hollywood there’s a new Hero in Town…

Even super heroes were kids once. Action Movie Kid is a perfect example of where our favourite caped crusaders begin.  With each short clip another of his wondrous skills is perfected.

As with many super heroes the source of Action Movie Kid’s power is his father, in this case the aptly named ActionHeroDad. Dreamworks animator Daniel (Hashi) Hashimoto is the man behind the face, behind the mask, behind the little super hero in fluffy shoes. Hashi produced all of the videos using only Adobe After Effects and a playful three year old.

Nexus Tips: Using a PS3 Controller with the Nexus 7 and the Hidden 4G Talents of the Nexus 4 Smartphone…

Google’s latest gadgets have been available for a short while now, enough time it seems for hidden treasure to be discovered. Recently it has was revealed that the Nexus 7 tablet is imbued with a special talent, it is able to use a PlayStation 3 controller for that tradition game play feel. A USB adapter is required to convert between mini and micro USB, along with the correct settings selected but that is all, console gaming on the go.

The latest Nexus 4 smartphone may have disappointed many with its lack of 4G connection but the truth is it may already be there. Nexus 4 owners on certain networks in Canada can go through an unlocking process that will enable the phone to operate on the 4G LTE band. As the video demonstrates the Nexus 4 is already able to operate on certain 4G networks, the speed is unknown however.

It Wasn’t Video That Killed the Radio Star, it was Television, YouTube Television…

Google has been very busy of late, it takes a lot of work to prepare for a Television Revolution, are you ready for YouTube TV. As more and more people use the internet for their video content this may turn out to be a very clever idea.

On the content side Google’s is rumoured to have dedicated $100million – 20 x $5million celebrities and their show, logical since Celebrities + YouTube = ad space -. By packaging its original content into channels YouTube hopes to compete with broadcast and cable tv. YouTube will be offering 20 channels initially, shows will be professionally produced through YouTube’s partners and at their studios. Changes to homepage will be made to allow channel highlights and will start to appear towards the end of the year. YouTube Live is already available in public beta, it allows YouTube’s partners to stream video live. Nothing ground breaking but it does show that everything is in place to start streaming, YouTube Live here. Live has already established itself as the go to point for breaking news.
