Dreams are at their most powerful when they are chased, when we do our best to convert them from imagination to reality. The Queen of Shitty Robots Simone Giertz had a dream, a crazy whacky dream to own the world’s first Tesla pickup truck, and the pursuit of this dream is cool on so many levels that it just has to be seen.Continue reading Queen of Shitty Robots Converts Tesla Model S into a Kick Ass Pickup Truck, So Cool…
Due for release in 2020 Elon Musk’s second-generation Roadster is still a couple of years away from hitting the road but it already has chins wagging. The king of the funny wagging chins Jay Leno recently experienced the insane acceleration that 10,000-foot pounds of torque can produce, and his reaction was priceless. Suffice as to say he went from curious to wanting one in under 1.9 seconds.Continue reading Tesla Roadster: 1.9 sec to 100Kph is Pure Insanity…
With the battle to be king of the mountain taking place in Bathurst this weekend Car Advice have tested the best of Aussie V8 muscle against the electric wonder car, the Tesla Model S. A car with more torque than a small truck and four wheel drive that transmits all of that instant on electric power to the tarmac with computer precision. This IS the fastest four door sedan available bar none.
Presented for your viewing pleasure is the Holden V8 Supercar and Walkinshaw HSV V8 lined up against the silent but deadly Tesla S. Buckle up in the back this is going to be one wild ride down the quarter mile.
Electricity is the lifeblood of the modern wired world but electricity is not your friend, it will kill you at the first opportunity that you give it. This is especially true for high voltage electricity. In order to make working with electricity as safe as possible it is necessary to test its effects and behaviour under various circumstances.
To this end the Russian Electrical Engineering Institute constructed one hell of a test facility. 40 kilometres west of Moscow is the sleepy town of Istra and the High Voltage Marx and Tesla Generators Research Facility that is able generate and fire high voltage lightning bolts at will. Opened in the late 70’s and still in use to this day the facility is based on work done by the electrical genius Nikola Tesla, Erwin Otto Marx and Vladimir Arkadyev.
Presented for your viewing pleasure is one of the largest lightning test facilities in the world, a test facility able to explode trees and make your hairs stand on end, a facility able to throw lightning bolts like a Nordic god. So sit back, relax and prepare to be struck by lightning’s impressive power.
Presented for your viewing pleasure are the adrenalin inducing effects of the world’s best electric car, a car with a mode named Insane. A mode that may one day become known as the OMG generator.
With specifications almost identical to a Lamborghini Aventador, except the requirement for petrol of course, the P85D was always going to be impressively quick but just how quick takes most people by surprise. Slip it into Insane mode and the Tesla quickly causes OMG to repeated ad nauseum.
Inventive genius Tesla is best known for his work with electricity but his favourite invention was the crazy little turbine, the Tesla Turbine. An almost counter-intuitive looking design that stacks flat disks and lacks blades of any kind.
Tesla Turbines are known for two things aside from their unusual design, they are highly efficient with the ability to achieve 98% efficiency. Then there is the speed, exceptionally high RPM rates are easily produced with many home builds able to spin at 80,000 rpm using only compressed air as the power source.
