SDO Celebrates Five Years Starring at the Sun…

The Solar Dynamics Observatory celebrated its 5th birthday on February 11 and NASA has put together two spectacular videos to celebrate the occasion.

While spending 5 years starring at the Sun may not be everyone’s idea of fun SDO has provided us with an unprecedented view of the star at the heart of our solar system. SDO has the best seat in the house when it comes to capturing the amazing and captivating images that help us to expand our understanding of our solar system.

Presented for your viewing pleasure are the stunning videos captured during SDO’s first five years, videos of our living sun in action. Sit back, relax and prepare to be amazed by the stunning solar show.

SDO Spots Dark Star UFO Parked Next To The Sun!!!

The online world is abuzz with talk of the most important and incredible UFO video released for many years.  During March 11 2012, for 80 hours, SDO recorded a dark planet sized sphere locked in place near the Sun’s surface. While many wild theories are already doing the rounds scientists have no explanation for what this object could possibly be.

Seeming to defy the laws of nature the dark sphere appears to be a void of immense size that is stationary and locked in place. The video is highly unusual, even for Paranoid Android, with a planet sized void sitting just off the Sun’s surface.

SDO, SOHO and the other solar observing satellites have already recorded some unusual objects in impossible places. During 2011 recordings showed a more triangular shaped craft. February saw SOHO and STEREO recorded unusual objects within the Suns corona. See ‘Solar Star Cruisers for the previous videos.

SDO’s Second Birthday, The Solar Tornado and The Approaching Solar Maximum in 2013…

“When Athol previewed this video to the office we were unanimously stunned, easily the video of the month. We set him to writing, chaining him to his desk. For your reading pleasure and visual stimulation we present NASA’s Solar Tornado and other interesting Solar facts”, Buddha’s Brother.

NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory – SDO – permanently keeps one eye open looking at the Sun, even on its second birthday. To celebrate two years of duty NASA has released incredible footage from our solar spy in the sky, the clearest footage ever captured of a Solar Tornado. Confirming the most unusual fact that the Sun also has Tornadoes, a little known phenomenon of galactic proportions.

Clearly visible in the video is a planet sized Tornado as large as the Earth. Held within multiple overlapping magnet fields the Tornado dances along the surface of the Sun, wind speeds of 500,000 kilometres per hour make this an amazingly massive and powerful storm.

Solar Dynamics Observatory, Rubber Chickens Staring at the Sun…

The satellites and space craft that we launch to observe our world are our eyes and ears in space. Advances in satellites pointed at the Sun have been enormous over the last decade. The latest satellite gathering solar information is NASA’s SDO. Chances are you have seen footage produced by this high-tech observer, all of the solar flare footage used by media channels lately have been thanks to NASA’s SDO satellite. The quality of the footage is incredible, only matched by the sheer amount of information this satellite is sending back to earth, over a terabyte of data a day. The data that this satellite collects will help us understand what drives our most important neighbour, the Sun.
