Daniele Benedettelli has been pondering this very question and has a very creative solution, Lego. Using MindStorm Lego Daniele has created an exoskeleton suit that can control his robot. The suit captures any movement and transmits the action to his mechanical man which mirrors the move.

With nothing more than a friendly smile hitchBOT explores the world one ride at a time. A free spirited robot that hitch-hikes his way from coast to coast one adventure at a time. Hailing from Port Credit, Ontario hitchBot last year crossed Canada in just 26 days. A total of 19 rides and 10,000 kilometres travelled thanks to the kindness of strangers.
Behind his smiling LED face hitchBOT by designed is a social robot whose personality stands out over his mechanical abilities. Constructed out of a small amount of electronics, a bucket, solar panels and bin lid hitchBOT lacks any form of locomotion and so is reliant on the help of strangers for most everything.

The world isn’t large enough for two mega robots, so it’s only natural that soon after MegaBot II was demonstrated the challenge would be thrown down, and thrown down it was. Young upstarts MegaBot Inc issued the challenge last week, Suidobashi Heavy Industry subsequently replied with a request for melee combat and now it’s time for 2 mega robots to go to war. In one year’s time on a battle field still to be decided the two largest working manned robots will compete for Mega Robot dominance.

A new generation of micro machines have recently begun tugging random objects around Stanford’s Biometrics Lab. Putting insects to shame the latest micro tugs, or Tuggers, are able to pull over 2000 times their own weight. Equivalent to a human dragging a Blue Whale down the beach.
Weighing only 12 grams Tugger is lifting well above his own weight but that’s not all for this micro machine. Tugger can also drive forward, turn left or right and when he wants to get to work pulling on things he plants his foot down and winches away. The secret though is less in the winch than it is in the foot.

The world’s lightest and strongest material has finally been put to awesome use making the coolest RC plane imaginable. The very low drag delta wing design of the looks not unlike a paper airplane except that the Carbon Flyer is far tougher and it’s self-propelled. Using two tiny high output electric motors this is the lightest and toughest RC plane that also happens to be by far the coolest flying gadget released this year.
More than an RC plane the Carbon Flyer is also a camera carrying drone able to stay aloft for three minutes at a time. Controlled via a smartphone app at a range of up to 240 feet, which it will cover quickly with a top speed of 40mph, this is simplicity and fun wrapped in carbon black.

The boffins at SSR Labs Harvard (Self-Organizing Systems Research) have continued the development of their swarm robot the Kilobot, capturing the swarms latest tricks in the new Kilobot Collective Behavior video.
