LaFerrari vs McLaren P1: The Battle of the Hypercars Heats Up…

While many of us judge a good day based on the simple things in life, good food, good company or even getting everything you wanted for Christmas the lucky journalists at CAR Magazine TV have much higher standards. In their world a good day involves such things as spending the day testing the world’s most advanced Hypercars.

You really do know you’re having a good day when the toughest decision is ‘do I drive the LaFerrari or the McLaren P1?’ Both cars feature hybrid power trains that use electric motors to make them quicker, both have close to a 1 bhp per kilo power to weight ratio and both produce a grin inducing sound that will send shivers down your spine. Looks like its flip a coin time.

Now while the video is spectacular I can’t say that I agree with their conclusion, the LaFerrari wins because it’s easier to drive, a simplification I know. Not that we here at Highpants have the budget to afford a hypercar but if we were buying a hypercar our priority for choosing one would not involve which one is easier to drive, we would buy the fastest which is the P1 (begin arguments now). We can dream after all.

Presented for your viewing pleasure is the latest salvo in the hypercar wars. With the hypercar wars only just heating up it is far too early to conclusively declare a winner; a track day will be required before a winner can be declared. We must also consider the other players; can the Porsche 918 Spyder and the Hennessey Venom GT compete with this latest generation of hypercar?
