Representing the ultimate form of personal freedom hoverboards for now remain a dream but many people are working hard to keep the dream alive, Hendo included. Catalin Alexandru Duru is another such individual, having spent the past 12 months working on his own propeller driven hoverboard he has this week proven his tech works by riding it to a new distance record for Hoverboard flight.
With Guinness on hand Catalin took to the air flying 275 meters before setting down in the calm waters of Lake Ouareau in Quebec, Canada. A record that surpassed the previous by 225 meters. Very little is known of the technology used in Catalin’s interpretation of the Hoverboard, it appears to be 4 very powerful quadcopters, but for a first official flight it seemed to work well. This may be one situation where lots of smaller propellers really is better than a few large propellers.
Presented for your viewing pleasure is the World Record flight of one impressive flying machine and its whacky pilot. Sit back relax and prepare to be amazed by the hoverboard that does more; slices dices mixes dispenses. But wait there’s more.

Science fiction is transforming into reality at an unprecedented pace. Fans of science-fiction and Call of Duty will recognise the TALOS Revision suit that endows soldiers with superhuman abilities. Thanks to DARPA this super suit will soon be a reality.
Giving the world a preview of what is to come Revision Military have this week released a video highlighting the possibilities of TALOS with their suit called Revision. The Canadian based company is already hard at work developing many of the technologies that may eventually appear in a TALOS prototype, a prototype that DARPA is hoping will become a reality with the Mark 5 suit in 2018.

Please when celebrating the New Year don’t use this technique for opening a champagne bottle, it is an incredible party trick but a 50 Cal bullet is unstoppable. It will go through the bottle, your house, you neighbours house, his car and just keep on going. Capable of destroying armoured vehicles this bullet is relentless.
Presented for your viewing pleasure are FullMag’s tactical preparations for New Years. A stunning slow motion video that demonstrates what a soft touch combined with brute force can achieve. Sit back, relax and let the bubbly flow free and confetti rain down.

The journey to space is still to this day the most difficult journey any person can take; breaking the surly bonds of Earth’s gravity, releasing ourselves from its grip is no small feat.
While the world looks on in wonder at NASA’s Orion launch system it is in fact at least two steps backwards from the space shuttle. The technology used by Orion to achieve the incredible journey to space is based on the work of Erik Von Braun and other geniuses from the 30’s. Sure the materials we use to make rockets have advanced and the technology has become far more reliable but it is still a technology that was born in the 30’s and represents zero advancement.
For the next generation launch vehicle you must look elsewhere. Look towards the end of a runway to the Skylon space plane, the real next generation space shuttle.

Flown by the 8th Special Operations Squadron (the Blackbirds 8 SOS) out of Hurlburt Field the V-22 Osprey is a one of a kind aircraft in a world dominated by fixed wings.
Capable of VTOL (Vertical Take Off and Landing) and STOL (Short-runway Takeoff and Landing) while carrying a payload of up to 20,000 kg and with a top speed of over 450 km/h the Osprey is able to transport troops and cargo further and faster than any VTOL aircraft before it.

Unmanned drones are all the rage at the moment but drones are not limited to the skies, take for example the US Navy’s latest technological breakthrough Silent Nemo the robotic spy fish, also known as the Ghost Swimmer.
Modeled after a blue fin tuna Silent Nemo the Ghost Swimmer looks like a normal fish, swims like a normal fish but he is in fact a semi autonomous water bound drone, but he’s not destined to become sushi as his living siblings are. Like a living tuna Silent Nemo is able to make tight turns and move through the water silently even though he is over 5 feet long and weighs a tad less than 50 kilograms. It turns out that a flapping tale is ten times quieter than a propeller, perfect for sneaking up on your water borne enemy.

Everybody knows that all things are better with lasers, now the US Navy have one hell of a laser. Approved for deployment this week by the Office of Naval Research the Northrop Grumman developed SSL-TM (Solid State Laser Technology Maturation) weapons system will be tested for the next year aboard the USS Ponce in the Persian Gulf. Just don’t be calling the captain a ponce effeminate man, Navy men really don’t like that and now he has a laser.

Electromagnetic railguns may be the military weapon of the future when it comes to firing large projectiles over very long distances but the technology itself is actually very scalable. BAE and rival General Atomics have even been demonstrating truck based railguns with immense destructive power, scaled down from their ship based weapons that are in testing at the moment.
The technology can even be scaled down further to hand held sized weapons, some of most interesting examples of which just happen to be homemade railguns, all of the danger without the gunpowder.

After making headlines in October with their V2.5 hybrid flying car AeroMobil have demonstrated the latest version of their winged wonder, the AeroMobil 3. Premiered at the Pioneers Festival in Vienna AreoMobil’s third prototype is very close to the final product and is undergoing flight testing at the moment. AeroMobil hope the third model can achieve certification in the EU as both a car and light sports aircraft.
Presented for your viewing pleasure is the video demonstration of the flying car that actually works and looks amazing in both modes, a no compromise flying car. Sit back relax and prepare to be transported into the skies by a car.

Testing of the X-47B continues in earnest, the latest video to capture these tests sees the X-47B performing landing and take-off manoeuvres aboard the USS Theodor Roosevelt. The spectacularly shot video ‘Death is Elsewhere’ features the events of August 17 in up close and personal detail. Each member of the aircraft carriers crew seems to stand to attention to observe the futuristic aircraft doing its thing.
Presented for your viewing pleasure is the high tech wonder that is the X-47B being put through its paces aboard a mobile military fortress. Amazing cinematic footage of the beast performing take-offs landings and flying as a wingman for an F/A-18, all done fully autonomously. Sit back, relax and prepare for the coming of the machines.
