Here at Highpants HQ we have a great appreciation for high quality audio. Not only does it get us through the day but it also acts as the heat beat of the team.

So, when we stumbled across the Tivoo Max, a new gadget that combines portable high-quality audio, retro styling and pixel art, we couldn’t resist banging it on the company credit card. Just don’t tell the boss! If he finds out we figure we can just say it was for review purposes, content is king after all.

The Battle of the PC Game Controllers: Xbox One versus SteelSeries Stratus Duo…

Here at Highpants I am the odd one out when it comes to gaming (tip of the iceberg), a game controller is my weapon of choice for gaming. This seems only natural to me as a long-time console gamer and a part time PC gamer.

With several awesome PC co-op games have taking over the office, especially Division2 and Vermintide 2, I thought it would be an opportune time to upgrade my old Logitech controller and join in the co-op mayhem.

Free Game Alert: Destiny 2 Now Free to Play on Steam…

Game developer Bungie has finalised its divorce from Activision, both have now parted ways, and we are all the winners of this new arrangement. With all the vigour of a divorcee on a Friday night out Bungie has let Destiny 2 loose, converting it to a free to play game via Steam.

Bungies entire back catalogue has now moved from its old home at Battle.net to its post-divorce accommodation at Steam. Bungie hasn’t neglected its old fiends either, all current Battle.net accounts can be easily migrated to Steam keeping your gaming history intact.

Fellow lovers of free wares jump onto Steam and secure your copy of the now free to play Destiny 2 Shadowkeep. Now that Destiny 2 is a Free To Play title there is of course no deadline inspired rush but remember the longer you wait the more action you will miss. Prepare to light up the moon with all of the hellacious gunfire and destruction this reborn shooter has to offer.

The PiXXL Monster LED Gaming Cube…

When it comes to spectacular forms of illumination LED Cubes lead the way, but they are dime a dozen in today’s high tech world. Hungarian tech start-up PirateGames have recently been show-casing their take on the LED cube, the PiXXL, and it has a twist that may just re-invigorate the way we look at these brightly lit six sided cubes, its interactive.

As its name might suggest each of the giant cubes six sides are covered in a 32×32 grid of RGB LED pixels but buried underneath its skin is a Raspberry Pi with a full array of motion sensors that gives the PiXXL the ability to sense movement aloowing it to interact with its owner.

Next Generation Nintendo Switch and NVIDIA Shield TV, Tegra X1 Brothers in Arms…

Pixel pushing powerhouse NVIDIA are well known for producing powerful video cards but they have another product that has been quietly selling by the millions for the last 4 years. The Tegra X1 SOC is that piece of silicon and it is the electronic brains inside two very impressive gadgets, the Nintendo Switch and the NVIDIA Shield TV.

First announced in 2015 the X1 is a mobile gaming powerhouse built onto a single tiny silicon chip. The X1 got its first big break in 2016 when Nintendo decided to use the chip in its new transforming console the Switch, which was subsequently launched March 2017. In the 2 years since the Switch has sold over 34 million units. At the same time NVIDIA has sold millions of their Shield TV’s.
