Over a person’s entire lifetime there are bound to be many twists and turns, a funny man once described it to me as ‘swings and roundabouts my boy’. Unfortunately many of these roundabouts lead to a turn for the worst, leaving sadness in the heart. The passing of a good friend is one such turn and it is not an easy happenstance to deal with.
In this modern interconnected world there are many cures, from medication to electrification. All variations on old themes; denial, isolation and desolation (of brain cells). But to mend a saddened heart the best medicine is still time and the kind words of a loved one. Then there is of course Puddles Pitty Party, like a modern version of the blues Puddles’ healing power is grounded in sharing the pain. Buried in the realization that this pain is in fact a shared experience.
Presented for your viewing pleasure and to help mend the sadness are some of Puddles’ most uplifting and strangely soothing tracks. While on first impressions he may seem to be a man wearing far too much makeup once he begins to bellow out a soulful song you will quickly realize there is some powerful medicine at work here. Sit back, relax and for all of those with sadness in their heart get the box of tissues ready.

In a world full of unrecognized and unbelievably talented people it is no surprise, sad but no surprise, that one of the best drummers in Las Vegas is a busker performing for spare change. Drumming to Wiz Khalifa’s ‘See You Again’ the performance starts out slow, matching the backing track perfectly until he lets loose with his high speed syncopated beats, this is one incredible sense of timing on show.
Presented for your viewing pleasure is possibly one of the best street performing drummers in Las Vegas. Evidence of the wealth of untapped musical talent that the mainstream music industry seems to ignore. An industry that really makes you wonder if the most talented people are what it is interested in, seriously an industry that puts Madonna at its head while vastly more talented people perform for change. Sit back relax and let the rhythm feed your soul, while your mind wonders why it is so.

Often times the musical instruments we use to produce music are every bit as artistic as the music being made. But when an art piece is a musical instrument and produces its own musical performance is it like an artistic double dip? Take for example London based artist and musician Graham Dunning and his Mechanical Techno video, a video that sees his techno producing machine as both performer and instrument.
Presented for your viewing pleasure is the quirky cool video that demonstrates a whole new way to make use of that old turntable and vinyl records. Sit back relax and let the beats roll on.

Oil and water don’t normally mix but if done just right they can, highlighting that there is an art to blending two disparate things together, this is the art of the Mashup. Videographer Robert Jones may just be a master of the mashup if his latest video ‘The Teletubbies perform I Fink U Freeky’ is anything to go by.
Putting his editing skills to good use Jones trolled through hours of Teletubbies episodes (insanity inducing in itself) to find the perfect Teletubbie action to match up to Die Antwoords thumping track ‘I Fink U Freeky’. Yolanda and Ninja, the stars of Die Antwoord, are sure to be amused.

Popularized by the film Deliverance Dueling Banjos is one of those tracks that marks a point in time for many people. Originally released in 1973 the film quickly became famous for a number of memorable scenes, dueling banjos being one, squealing like a pig being another. If you haven’t sat down done Deliverance your cinematic life isn’t really complete.
The original “Dueling Banjos” was an instrumental composition by Arthur “Guitar Boogie” Smith. Written in 1955 by Smith as a banjo instrumental he called “Feudin’ Banjos” that contained riffs from “Yankee Doodle”. Smith recorded it playing a four-string plectrum banjo and accompanied by five-string bluegrass banjo player Don Reno. The version by Eric Weissberg and Steve Mandell went to #2 for four weeks on the Hot 100 in 1973 and topped the adult contemporary chart for two weeks the same year. The song was actually used in Deliverance without Smiths permission which led to a lawsuit in 1973.
