John Howell and his team at Rochester University have recently demonstrated a simplified cloaking system that uses 4 lenses to force light to travel around an object, the Rochester Cloak. When you look at an object through the eye piece the light has bounced around anything obstructing your view. Though the device may be low tech it does have advantages over other techniques, it is the only 3D continuous multi-directional cloak.

Daimler AG has recently released a preview of their vision of the truck in 2025. Demonstrating the new self driving truck at the 65th International Motor Show for commercial vehicles in Hanover, Germany the highly efficient long haul transporter is actually ready to hit the roads today. In fact the technological powerhouse could go into service right now if it were legal. It seems that governments around the world are playing catch up with the technology, new laws that allow the technology to hit the road are still working its way through legislative systems. Arizona and Nevada are currently the only places that allow use of such vehicles.

Formula E is off to a crashingly good start in China with a close race and spectacular crashes. The cars even passed the driver stress test with Nick Heidfeld walking away from the most spectacular crash of the day.
The first race of the inaugural season saw drivers racing on roads surrounding Beijing’s Birds Nest. The cars are similar in design and construction to their older brother F1, with the exception of the power train. The all electric Formula E cars swap out the petrol engine for a 150-180Kw electric motor.
