Google Moves from Android OS to Android Robotics. Say Hello To My Little Friend the Google Bot…

Andy Rubin, one of the brains behind Android has a new project to occupy his time. Moving from Android for smart phones to Androids for us, real robotic androids. Having resigned from his post heading Android OS development Andy is now heading up Google’s push to make robots a reality.

Google’s plans were revealed during a recent interview with the New York Times, plans that should see robots move from the labs of the world to factories everywhere.

This is no plan to take over Christmas with cute toy robots, the might G is going industrial, planning to turn manufacturing and logistics on its head. Is Google tired of waiting for robotics to happen or have they spotted an opportunity?

The Blue Planet Project: The Alien Technical Manual…

An encyclopaedia of all things alien the Blue Planet Project document has caused much controversy since first appearing in 2002. Some say it is a pure hoax while others claim the author is as real as you and me.

An unofficial history of humanities secret involvement with aliens the Blue Planet Project document covers all of the major modern UFO topics and incidents to date. Authored by an unknown source the document is written with an insider’s perspective, giving the document a real MIB feel.

The sheer volume of topics covered by the Blue Planet Project warrants at the very least a quick scanning. Reading deeper also rewards the reader with a level of detail that’s difficult to fake. If it is entirely BS at least the author has put a lot of work into it.

Electronic Arts where Everything Old is New Again, the Return of Desert Strike…

Video games as a recreational pastime have been slowly exploding in popularity since the release of the first home console, the 1972 Magnavox. Throughout it all there have been games that were burnt into our cultural memories, games so popular that their names still reverberate to this day.

Electronic Arts is one of few companies that have been there throughout most of this modern gaming era (founded in May 1982 by gaming legend Trip Hawkins), they have had many years to build one hell of a gaming catalog. Reaching deep into this back catalog EA looks to be preparing a reboot of an all time classic, Desert Strike.

Fans of the original Desert Strike series may soon be taken back to 1992, back to the year Desert Strike first took over the console and computer gaming world. While there have been a number of follow up games it has been nearly 20 years since the 1997 release of Nuclear Strike, the last real Strike game.

The Truth about Teleportation Girl…

It isn’t often that a mystery is completely solved, resolved without question. The mystery of Teleportation Man is one mystery that can be consigned to the annals of history.

Firstly I must correct the assumption that our Teleportation super hero was a man, it was in fact Teleportation Girl. Saving hapless cyclists isn’t her only claim to fame either; she had been captured using her powers to shop faster in convenience stores.

The truth however is far less interesting, cool but not very interesting. Teleportation Girl was in fact an ad campaign for a Chinese video game that somehow got lost in translation, with many of us missing the point, and sadly while it went viral it was for me a lost cause. It was a game many would have looked into if we knew the ad was for it.

Do Electric Cockroaches Dream or Are Cyborg Cockroaches Taking Over Christmas?..

Finding the perfect present for the person that has everything is now an easy task with the cyborg cockroach Roboroach. By far our favourite present that no one believes is real Roboroach is a high tech remote control for a cockroach, cockroach not included.

Far from science fiction this is a real device that once attached to your pet cockroach will allow you to control left and right movements via an iPhone app. Backyard Brains have single handily created the world’s first cyborg kit while simultaneously managing to gross out almost the entire world.

Roboroach is one of those polarizing products that you will love it or hate, and as with most polarizing products it forces us to face some weighty issues. When I first started this article it was with he assumption that Roboroach was simply a cool gadget for Christmas, watching the video however made my stomach turn. Yet this technology may bring with it many positives, we still have much to learn about neural circuits and neural biology. So should we take an early ethical hit to help in the future?
