Reddit has finally proven its worth by protecting the world from a commercial so bad that it caused a backlash before release to the public.
Samsung assembled this hilariously bad collection of poorly imagined stereo-types in order to sell their ridiculously easy to install SSD, the 840 EVO. So easy to install that a housewife could perform the upgrade, in-between doing her chores of course, according to Samsung’s entry into the Worst Ad in History competition.
The product was always going to be a hard sell, trying to convince the world that it could do its own SSD upgrades? A beautiful dream but I would hate to be the helpline worker when things go wrong.

Rainy days at Highpants HQ are often the most productive, today was no exception. Winter had returned with vengeance, a cold wind was blowing and constant rain all day had produced the perfect conditions for a busy indoors day.
Highpants tasks were dropping like flies, articles written and databases programmed. My brother Norbut was even dropping by to talk shop (web in this case), no small effort on a day like today.
On this rainy Thursday though fate had a cruel twist in store for us, a story would unfold around us so sad that it will tear at the hearts of even the most heartless amongst us, yet it’s also a story of hope.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, of modem technology, Microsoft has developed a software modem that will have your mobile phone squealing like a 56k modem from decades past.
Developed by Microsoft Research Indian the Dhwani acoustic modem technology allows secure data transmission between all types of mobile phones. Requiring no new chipset or radio hardware the system sidesteps all current NFC (Near Field Communication) standards by simply using the microphone and speaker of the connecting phones. Allowing any phone with a speaker and a microphone to use the technology. Unfortunately the technology won’t talk with current NFC standards and isn’t a direct competitor at all as its only able to transmit small files at the moment.
To use the technology simply load the Dhwani software onto two phones and hold them in close proximity to initiate a file transfer. A modern take of the squealing modem noise will begin, ending once the file transfer is complete. Speeds are still limited with the technology capable of 2.4kbs, 20 times slower than a trusty old 56k modem.
