Motor Trend magazine has this week answered the question on every car enthusiast’s mind, which is the fastest supercar in the world? Hosting the second annual World’s Greatest Drag Race Motor Trend has answered the question for another year.
With the latest models of the greatest examples of supercar design from Europe and the USA ready to do straight line battle the race is on. Motor Trend had assembled the fastest of the fast. Names we can only dream of are present; Lamborghini Aventador, Nissan GT-R Black Edition, Ford Shelby GT500, McLaren MP4-12C, Jaguar XKR-S, Porsche 911 Carrera S, Subaru BRZ, Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series and Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.
Gathered at the abandoned runway of the El Toro Marine Base the scene was set, with 9 of the World’s fastest Supercars lined up in a row, as the revs build in anticipation the combined exhaust note shakes the ground beneath their rubber feet, the answer would soon be clear.

The battle of the Uber video cards may have been in a lull of late, NVIDIA launched the last salvo some months ago with its GTX 690 dual GPU Uber video card, now it is time for ATI’s reply, the Devil 13 HD7990 by PowerColor.
Has AMD given up on Uber video cards? Unwilling to produce a dual GPU video card based on their latest Tahiti GPU, AMD has left the heavy lifting to PowerColor who designed the beast from the ground, with AMD’s blessing of course. The HD7990 is set to be a PowerColor exclusive, this is their baby after-all, adding to the exclusivity there will be only 500 of these Uber monsters produced.
Based on AMD latest GPU the HD7990 will include two Tahiti GPU’s, each clocked at 925Mhz. Over-clocking to 1000Mhz is built directly into the card, provided by the built in go faster button, literally.

English electrician Joseph Elliot loves his scooter, he loves going fast even more. Having previously held the world record for the fastest scooter Joseph recaptured the title with an insanity confirming top speed of 112 mph.
A straight flat track in Warwickshire was the scene of the world record attempt. On August 12 Joesph dared to dream big, and lived to tell his tale. Riding his highly modified but tiny Lambretta scooter Joseph took the world record with a blistering quarter mile time of 11.87. This pocket rocket could literally take most supercars at the lights while still being able to park anywhere you like.
The highly customized Lambretta has dual 172cc engines working together to provide 58 bhp while carbon fiber helps keep the weight down to something similar to a pair of shoes.

Amazon has this week sent the rumor mill spinning at full speed, scheduling a major press event for mysteriously unknown reasons. Technorati, members of the media, have all received a cryptic invitation from Amazon, invited to attend an airport hanger in Santa Monica, California on September 6.
While the world waits in anticipation for the new generation of Kindle Fire 2 tablets Amazon managed to keep the new tablets release a complete secret, not an easy task. Many had originally speculated the date of July 31 for the new tablets release, but having passed the September 6 event seems to be the next logical opportunity to introduce the new generation of Fire 2 tablets.
All media analysts agree the new Fire tablets are the subject of the press event the risk takers are suggesting Amazon’s first smartphone may also see the light of day. Has Amazons legendary Lab 126 finished development?

Bursting onto the motorsports scene in January the Juke-R was seen for the first time in the lead up to the Dubai 24 hour classic. Combining the heart of a GT-R, twin turbo V6 and 4WD transmission, with the body of a city car the Juke-R instantly caught the public’s attention. NanoTritium, the first commercially available nuclear powered Tritium battery has been launched by small engineering company City Labs. Able to outlast a room full of Eveready bunnies, the Tritium battery is virtually indestructible while running 20years nonstop.
Tritium is a mildly radioactive isotope of hydrogen that due to the instability of the atom breaks down slowly, eventually becoming helium and releasing electrons in the process.
The development of the nuclear powered battery was born out of the US Air Force’s requirement for long-lasting batteries for aircraft, computers, sensors, radar systems and unmanned aerial vehicles. City Labs won the contract to develop the battery in 2010, NanoTritium is the first product to appear from this work.
