Sony Online Entertainment is planning to do battle on a monumental scale, preparing to let PlanetSide 2 loose on the world.
This latest Play4Free gem takes multi-player first person shooters to the extreme. With thousands of players involved in a single game battles are fought on a Ben Hur scale. The sequel to the ground breaking PlanetSide, the original massively multi-player first person shooter – FPS -.
Set once again on the planet Auraxis 3 factions must fight for territory and the control it brings. The three empires vying for control include the stern military empire of the Terran Republic, the loosely organised rebels of the New Conglomerate and the technology obsessed Vanu Sovereignty.
Sony will also be introducing new worlds in the future, keeping the battles fresh. The first planet Auraxis, the home planet, will be broken up into territories and sectors. Each sector is up for capture and control. Each sector also has resources available, Auraxium for example. Managing the resources and targeting sectors for invasion for their resources will be an essential part of the evolving game. As in the physical world the control of resources form the basis for many of the greatest battles, this is being emulated within the PlanetSide 2 world.

The Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt, a single-seat, twin-engine, straight-wing air-craft designed for the United States Air Force to provide close air support (CAS) to ground forces. Specialising in attacking tanks, armored vehicles, and other ground targets with a limited air interdiction capability. The A-10 is the first U.S. Air Force aircraft designed solely for close air support. Singular of purpose, a rarity amongst modern fighter aircraft.
A-10 Warthog, it’s not just its unusual features that earned it the name Warthog, the scream of its rotary machine gun sounds akin to a wild bore growling. A truly unnatural sounding and looking aircraft. It is also the most majestic and beautiful aircraft to take service in the American Air Force, slow flying and highly maneuverable the A-10 harks back to an older era of aircraft.
Included for your viewing pleasure are 3 videos, the first two being two of the best examples the the Warthog screaming available on the internet. Listen to the roar of the rotary canon, look at the faces of the soldiers it supports, they know the sound of the A-10 screaming at their foes.

Project Glass, a stylish flavour of augmented reality announced by Google earlier this week. With a Google+ page pronouncing the new project Google may have assumed the technology crowds around the world would applaud their new Uber Gadget.
Sadly Googles latest announcement was met by disbelief, scorn and mocking. Light on technical details while being extremely sleek and futuristic visually Project Glass was initially accused of being a pure demonstration device.
Project Glass as it turns our is a real product, a pair of glasses to be precise that can display information, either specifically requested or relating to the immediate surroundings, augmented reality. At the moment the glasses appear to display information on a small independent display but the ultimate goal is to project onto the inside of the glass, with general messages in their own space and other information overlaid onto the background, giving the full augmented reality effect.

UFO Flotilla or fleets have become a more frequently occurring phenomenon recently. With major sightings around the world in the last six months you might get the impression someone is showing off their new toys.
Flotilla usually consist of groups of small luminous spheres or orbs, that often number in the hundreds, drifting through the sky silently. Sometimes accompanied by disc shaped UFO’s the Flotilla move in synchronised patterns, perhaps a super high-tech take on the UAV, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle. Often a shocking sight to behold the first time you are introduced, hundreds of strange craft moving in unison.
Selected for your viewing pleasure are three of the most shocking Flotilla videos currently available. NASA footage of a fleet re-entering the atmosphere along with a most unusual small fleet of orbs seen over Fukushima and the video that started it all, Guadalajara Mexico, 2004.

The interface revolution continues to roll on and this time round musical instruments are getting the treatment. Reactable is the result of this treatment, more than just a touch screen surface, it is a tangible interface. Developers Sergi Jordà, Marcos Alonso, Martin Kaltenbrunner and Günter Geiger working at the University of Spain developed the Reactable over 3 years, releasing it publicly in 2006. With soldering irons and circuit boards the Reactable was born. A musical instrument at its most basic, it is much much more. Analogue synth, mixing desk, sampler, metronome, sequencer and harmonizer, all built into one silky smooth interactive surface interface, a Tangible user interface –TUI -.
Various blocks called tangibles are placed on the surface and used to interact with various functions of the Reactable. Printed onto the faces of the tangibles are a black and white pattern or fiducials that are recognized by a camera on the underside of the table. Also built into the underside of the table is the projector that provides the image on the Reactables surface. The camera is responsible for driving the interface, the projector gives you feedback and the software reacTIVision brings it all together, presenting fluid motions and instant reactions.

With the prevalence of security camera’s and hand held video camera’s there are bound to be some unexplained and unusual things captured. The two clips included today could make you think that even Aliens need to cross the road from time to time.
When it comes to unusual video they have to be real or at least perceived to be real in order to have the required impact. Sometimes things are real but so unusual as to be perceived as impossible even though it may stare you in the face. Sometimes nature gets things a little confused with unexpected results. In the first vdieo we present nature at her stangest, shot in the streets of Marseilles, France the footage shows a creature so strange that it induces an instant reaction.
The second video takes place on a motorway in England, CCTV camera’s captured a most unusual looking creature running across the motorway in front of oncoming traffic. Obviously the creature is smart enough to dodge the traffic, waiting for a break in traffic it is another case of an unnatural looking creature caught on tape. The clip itself is very short and more than a little blurry with the speed and stride of the creature giving it a very unnatural appearance. We recommend watching the video in full screen mode and pause it when the creature is running through the light. It slender almost emaciated looking frame is obviously running on all four – limbs – but it has a much more upright posture than a big dog.

Instantly creating a stir when it was initially released in 1991 the Dodge Viper took the muscle car concept to the limit, along the way becoming one of those cars people either loved or hated, the Viper was a very polarising model.
As Mark Twain once said ‘the rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated”, the same could be said for the Viper. After a temporary halt to production, since 2010, to allow for a fully redesigned 2013 model the Viper is back, ready to make it’s international debut at the New York Motor Show this week.
The new models have been re-designed from the ground up. First discussed in 2010 the 2013 Viper will be designed to make it accessible to as many people as possible. All Vipers produced to date have been described as drivers cars, with no driver aids and aggressive handling that required razor sharp reactions previous Vipers required taming. At the Chrysler 2010 dealer conference Chrysler Group and Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne described the 2013 Viper design aiming to make the car more accessible to the average driver. To this end the new Viper will now include all of the modern driver aids and more forgiving steering and suspension settings. Electronically taming the beast.

The online world is abuzz with talk of the most important and incredible UFO video released for many years. During March 11 2012, for 80 hours, SDO recorded a dark planet sized sphere locked in place near the Sun’s surface. While many wild theories are already doing the rounds scientists have no explanation for what this object could possibly be.
Seeming to defy the laws of nature the dark sphere appears to be a void of immense size that is stationary and locked in place. The video is highly unusual, even for Paranoid Android, with a planet sized void sitting just off the Sun’s surface.
SDO, SOHO and the other solar observing satellites have already recorded some unusual objects in impossible places. During 2011 recordings showed a more triangular shaped craft. February saw SOHO and STEREO recorded unusual objects within the Suns corona. See ‘Solar Star Cruisers for the previous videos.

LG is looking to stay ahead of the technological curve for displays, recently announcing the availability next month, April, of their flexible e-ink display. Able to be bent up to 40 degrees, from the centre, the new display is also thinner and much lighter than previous glass based displays.
Making use of a flexible plastic substrate LG’s new display is 0.77mm thin and weighs only 14 grams. Described as an electronic paper display – EPD – this is one tough display. Able to with-stand a drop from 1.5 meters, scratch resistant and of course bendable.
The display itself measures 6-inches diagonally and squeezes in 1024 x 768 pixels, giving ample space for reading. LG is producing the display to be included in e-book readers made by other manufacturers, it’s pure OEM hardware. No official manufacturing partners have been announced as of yet.
LG’s EPD technology is based on E-Ink corporations electronic paper display. With no back light requirements and only requiring power to change the display this is still the number one low power display technology.
