Google Buys Twitch, Gaming Tournaments Go Prime Time…

Google’s video arm YouTube have this week announced the acquisition of Twitch the gaming tournament live streaming service. With a billion dollars of cash handed over for Twitch you can bet the original backers are now very happy.

Think of Twitch as ESPN for the internet generation, currently they have a massive share of the gaming tournament broadcasting market. A market and aspect of gaming that has seen phenomenal growth over the last decade, this is sport TV of the not too distant future.

Twitch now sees 43 million people a month visit their site to watch the best play the games we all love.
