Blade Runner 2049, Are You Ready?

Set 30 years after Deckard’s final mission retiring skin jobs Blade Runner 2049 introduces a new Blade Runner, Ryan Gosling is LAPD Officer K. Harbouring a secret, he is sent on a journey to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford returns) and save what is left of his world.

The moody atmosphere and dystopian high tech world seem to have been kept intact for 2049 which may be down to Ridley Scott putting his executive producer hat on for the film. It could also simply be director Denis Villeneuve’s style, his previous films include Prisoners, Sicario and Arrival. Either way it is an essential ingredient for the follow up to Blade Runner.

Set for release mid 2017 (10.6.17) Blade Runner 2049 has a lot of expectations to live up to. The original film cast a very long shadow and science fiction fans can be a pretty flammable bunch so let’s hope it’s good. Will there be answers to those lingering questions? Can Deckard steal the film? Will there be riots if it sucks? Sadly only time will tell.
